IIBCC 2016 was a great success and the halls are once again empty!
A record number of 257 delegates preregistered for the conference and several more registered at the conference itself. Delegates were treated with up to 5 days of activities depending on their preferences.

Monday saw 90 participants choose between our basic or advanced courses in fibre cement technology.
On Tuesday delegates were able to listen to 24 presentations from suppliers to the industry. They were also able to visit 23 booths of exhibitors that remained open until the end of the conference.

Also on Tuesday evening delegates were welcomed to the conference by Professor Holmer Savastano at a cocktail reception in the hotel foyer.
On Wednesday and Thursday presentations were made by authors of peer-reviewed papers. Presentations started with our invited speaker Professor Caijun Shi on “Reinforcement Mechanisms of Fibers in UHPC Composites”. This was followed by a round table discussion with 10 experts from the industry and 16 presentations on a variety of technical topics including new materials, auxiliary materials and production processes.

On Wednesday evening, delegates enjoyed the conference dinner which was presented in traditional Chinese style. Delegates also were treated to a spectacular display provided in part by our major sponsor Golden Power.

Friday was the day for site visits and more than 150 delegates visited Golden Power production facilities in Chang Le. Other delegates travelled to Wuhan to visit Sinoma to see the construction of equipment for the production of fibre cement. Other delegates also travelled to Shanghai to visit Rich Fruits company who make automated painting lines.
A survey of delegates has indicated general satisfaction with the conference. Your committee has taken note of their suggestions and some will be included in IIBCC 2018.

Thanks to our generous sponsors and exhibitors
Your organisers and committee would like to express our sincere thanks for the support of our sponsors and exhibitors. Without your support, the conference would not be the success that it has proven to be.
We particularly wish to thank our sponsor Golden Power for their support before, during and after the conference. Golden Power provided assistance with staff, support for the entertainment at the Gala dinner and we would also like to compliment them on the organisation of the site visit.
Professionals around the conference
Our registration desk was staffed by personnel from C&D for the whole of the conference. We would like to thank them for their assistance in registration and management of the day to day conference activities including ensuring the smooth running of the rooms, assisting with airport transfers, provision of facilities and interpretation services etc. We would like to thank them for their assistance and their good humour during the conference.
Thanks to our Organising Committee
We would like to also thank our organising committee who have been working steadily on the conference for the 18 months prior to the conference. We would particularly like to acknowledge the efforts of Mr Lin Zhen who provided the local connections.
The International Committee also wants to acknowledge the dedication of Mr Tony Cooke and Mr André Kupferschmid who have both decided to resign from their position in the Committee. Their active participation for decades in the Committee initially under the guidance of Prof. Al Moslemi has been greatly appreciated and helped us to maintain the Committee’s guiding principles of learning, cooperation and networking.
